At first, I thought maybe it was a glitch. But after several panicked refreshes, a few tech support emails, and one sinking phone call, the reality set in: My entire website had disappeared.
All of it.
Over a decade of blogs, client stories, carefully crafted galleries, and the words that told the heart of who I am and what Shandi Kay Photography stands for… just vanished. I can’t fully describe the mix of emotions. Part heartbreak, part disbelief. I’d spent years building that space and suddenly, it was gone...
For a while, I didn’t know where to start. Rebuilding felt overwhelming. Would I remember everything? Could I recreate the feeling? Would it even be the same?
But in the quiet moments that followed, after the panic subsided, I started asking different questions.
What do I really want my website to say now?
What do I want people to feel when they visit?
And maybe most importantly…
What parts of this business and this journey do I want to bring forward with me?
And that’s when the shift happened. Losing everything turned into an opportunity to build something better, something more personal, more intentional, and more me.
So, I started fresh.
I rewrote my story.
I selected images that reflect not just my work, but my heart.
I created space for the stories behind the portraits—the part I care most about.
This new site isn’t just a replacement. It’s a new beginning. And in many ways, it feels more like home than the one before ever did.
